Marcus Horan is an injury doubt for Ireland's upcoming autumn international matches against Australia, Fiji and South Africa.
The prop is not currently training with the Irish squad and is the subject of ongoing medical tests, which are expected to be completed this week.
His availability for the series will be determined after the results are known.
It has been confirmed that Brian O'Driscoll will continue in his role as captain of the side.
